About Lanna
Van Research Services was founded in 2012 by Archival Producer Lanna Lucas. Lanna possesses over 15 years experience, with 10 years devoted to Film/TV. Although she got her start in story research, she eventually focused on archival research, licensing and clearances, and music licensing.
She is highly sought-after in the production world, and for good reason. She has been involved in all aspects of production - from pre-production to post-production. She knows how to handle every stage of the process, and is experienced in licensing, fair dealing (Canada) and fair use (USA). She is no stranger to handling assets from acquisition, budgeting, negotiation, swaps/replacement research, execution and delivery.
Lanna has been nominated twice for the Best Visual Research at the Canadian Screen Awards. She recently completed being the Archival Producer for the music docuseries RapCaviar Presents for Spotify x Hulu, and the Archival Supervisor for a true crime docuseries for CBS. Currently, Lanna is lending her expertise as an Archival Producer on the upcoming CBC/CBC Gem series Black Life: Untold Stories. Additionally, she recently gave a talk on visual research at Factual West, Western Canada’s largest post-production event, held in Vancouver.
Lanna holds a B.A. in Psychology from the University of British Columbia and is a member of the Visual Researchers Society of Canada and the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television. When Lanna's not busy chasing her tenacious son, she can be seen looking for the best coffee shops around the city.
About the Team
Lanna has been fortunate enough to come across likeminded researchers throughout her career, and has been able to take on a select on-call team who are always eager and willing to help when needed. Together, they make up Van Research Services. Under her training and supervision, the team works closely to ensure quality and efficiency in moving the projects forward in a swift and timely manner.
